Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday was observed Thursday, Jan. 15th, marking the birth of the civil rights leader who helped lead the nation’s struggle for racial equality.
King, born in 1929, is best known for his advocacy of nonviolent protest and his leadership during the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s. He delivered the iconic “I Have a Dream” speech in 1963 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
