A 14-year-old Florida boy has been arrested for carjacking an 81-year-old woman in front of a Walmart in Lauderdale Lakes.
ABC Local 10 News reports that the boy’s mother Ramona Gordon turned her son in to the Lauderdale Lakes police on Friday, January 19 after seeing a video of him on television.
According to a police report, Gordon’s son Shaquille Dixon admitted to the carjacking. Two other boys who were involved in the carjacking have not been arrested.
On video footage from January 15, 2018, the three boys can be seen in front of the Walmart following the older woman into the store and then following her out into the parking lot.
The woman explained to Local 10 News that she thought the ordeal was a joke when she saw that the boys were young enough to be her great-grand children. She asked him to repeat himself when he shouted. She gave her keys to him and let him go.
Jumping into the car the boys sped off so fast that they almost hit the woman.
