When you hear beauty pageant, the first thing that may come to mind is pretty women, catwalk, talents and world peace. However, when you hear Ms. Black USA Beauty Pageant , you should think intelligent, beautiful strong women who are killing the game.

Ms. Black USA Daphne Lee is proud of this pageant and the opportunity it affords Black women of all shapes, color and sizes.

“Black pageantry goes way back into the 1960’s and it really does create a legacy of sistership. We’re looking at Black women who are excelling in their various fields,” explains Lee. “Also Ms. Black USA is the number one première scholarship pageant for women of color. More than 80% of the Ms. Black USA women are in graduate school or have graduated from undergrad school.”

This pageant screams Black Girl Magic and it’s beautiful because it seeks to help women of color achieve their goals in whatever career path they take.

“So it’s a very big movement. This is not a pageant. This is not about beauty it’s about collecting these women and making them rise to the occasion that they can accomplish their dreams and to receive scholarship money to continue and further their education,” expressed Lee.
