When it comes to the roads we drive in Indiana, it’s safe to say that all Hoosiers have their share of negatives and positives . However, some might be surprised to learned that Indiana Is ranked as 2019’s 3rd Best State to Drive in according to WalletHub.com.

The only two states ranked above Indiana are Oregon and Illinois, who are ranked at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.

To determine the most driver-friendly states in the U.S., WalletHub compared the 50 states across 30 key metrics. The data set ranges from average gas prices to share of rush-hour traffic congestion to road quality.

Driving in Indiana (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

  • 10th – Share of Rush-Hour Traffic Congestion
  • 26th – Traffic Fatality Rate
  • 27th – Car Theft Rate
  • 16th – Auto-Repair Shops per Capita
  • 21st – Avg. Gas Prices
  • 4th – Auto-Maintenance Costs
  • 8th – Road Quality
  • 15th – Car Dealerships per Capital
