According to WFAA, singer and songwriter Jada Arnell reportedly was shot after a successful performance and signing autographs Saturday at the Academy of Black Arts and Letters. She is reportedly in stable condition and on the road to recovery at this time.
Dallas police report stated the suspect fled the scene, but was later found by a witness who flagged down police en route to the location Jada was shot. The individual was identified as Micah Williams, 26, and was found in a hotel lobby. Williams allegedly attempted to sit on her purse, when police noticed a handgun in it, according to the police affidavit.
In a interview, Williams admitted to shooting Thomas saying Thomas harassed her all of 2023. Williams has since been detained at Dallas County Jail and currently on a $200,000 bond.
Mr. Curtis King, the TBALL owner made a statement expressing his hurt and anger toward the situation. Jada Arnell has had a long history performing at The Academy of Arts and Letters since 10 years young. Mr. King says he is already working on preventive measures like metal detectors and fewer points of entry in the venue.
At this time we are keeping our thoughts and prayers with Jada Arnell, a close friend of 97.9 The Beat.
This is an ongoing investigation and will be updated with more information as it is made available.
