Alright now, Tyler Perry is back and shaking up the game with a brand-new comedy series that’s about to have the whole group chat talking. It’s called She the People — and trust, it’s not your regular political drama. It’s giving real laughs, real issues, and a whole lotta Black excellence.

Premiering May 22 on Netflix, She the People stars Terri J. Vaughn (yes, from Daddy’s Little Girls) as Antoinette Dunkerson, a strong Black woman stepping into power after winning the election for Lieutenant Governor. But sis quickly finds out that politics ain’t just press conferences and power suits. She’s got to deal with a shady, sexist Governor and all the drama that comes with her family now being in the public eye. Whew!

And let’s talk about this cast! We got OGs like Jo Marie Payton (aka Harriette Winslow from Family Matters) and some dope fresh faces like Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, and Tré Boyd. You already know the vibes when Tyler Perry puts a cast together — it’s going to be Black, bold, and binge-worthy.

Now, this ain’t just another sitcom. It’s part of Perry’s huge creative deal with Netflix, the same one that brought you Beauty in Black (which hit #1 globally) and The Six Triple Eight (which had the whole internet in their feelings). Tyler ain’t playing. And guess who else is behind the scenes? Keisha Lance Bottoms, former ATL Mayor and presidential advisor. That’s right — real Black girl magic on and off the screen.

So mark your calendar: Part 1 drops May 22 and Part 2 hits August 14.
