Although there were years of tension between R&B sensations, Monica and Brandy, they cannot deny the magic they made with this 1998 summer jam. This week in 1998, The Boy Is Mine was #1 on Billboards Top 100 for the 5th week in a row! It went on to remain #1 through the week of August 29th. It was inspired by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney‘s 1982 duet “The Girl Is Mine” and was the lead single from both singers’ second albums from 1998, Never Say Never by Brandy and The Boy Is Mine by Monica.
