Missy Elliott makes history becoming the first female rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The five time Grammy winner has worked with some the best acts like Janet Jackson, Ciara, SWV, and Aaliyah. With six studio albums that have been certified platinum, making Missy the only female rapper to accomplish this award. A songwriter with an outstanding catalog of songs is considered for induction 20 years after the first commercial release of a song. Also inductees include Dallas Austin, Tom T. Hall, John Prine, Jack Tempchin, and Yusuf / Cat Stevens. The induction ceremony will take place on June 13 in New York City.
