Tia Mowry is starring in a new Netflix Comedy sitcom, ‘Family Reunion,’ and it features an all-Black writer’s room. ‘Family Reunion’ is about a black family who moves to Columbus, Georgia from Settle, Washington after attending their family reunion. The show also stars Loretta Devine, Richard Roundtree, and Telma Hopkins. The show is about new school family traditions meeting old school Southern traditions.
Meg DeLoatch, the creator of ‘Family Reunion,’ wanted an all-Black writer’s room true authenticity and make it relatable. Meg wanted people who are really immersed in the nuances and culture of African-American life in the south was very necessary for the story line.
