Some divorce lawyers decided to use what they’ve learned to help people out BEFORE they get married. They came up with a list of ten questions couple should ask each other before jumping the broom.
- Are you a good fit for each other? Which is a broad question. But just think about it.
- Is your relationship grounded in friendship?
- Do you try to see the best in each other?
- Do you both have realistic expectations of each other?
- Do you generally want the same things in life? So, things like kids, or a nice house.
- Can you raise issues with each other, and talk them out?
- Do you keep things exciting?
- Are you both committed to working through tough times?
- Would you pull together in hard times? Which is kind of the same as the last one.
- Do you each have your own support group, so you don’t just rely on each other?
If you don’t answer yes to all ten, that just means you have something to work on. But if most of your answers are no, then uummm…yea about that….
