10 Terrible Songs From The 2010s That Got Played To Death

The 2010s witnessed its fair share of terrible songs that somehow managed to remain in the public light. From EDM catastrophes to booty songs that just wouldn’t go away, the decade definitely had some low moments.

Thanks to the Internet, a lot of music could be avoided from the radio. But even the most intrusive songs were popping up in social media feeds and getting millions of views for some bizarre reason. Check out the first song of dismay below, then hit the flip for more triggering tracks that might’ve left your ears in shambles.

“OMG” by Usher feat. will.i.am (2010)

It’s only right that we start the decade off with Usher‘s lowest moment — the EDM era. While some songs were tolerable during this time, they were a far cry from the R&B crunk king we knew and loved from the 2000s…and “OMG” was the worst of them. The song starts off promising with the simple melody “Baby let me love you down, there’s so many ways to love you.” But then the lyrics go from decent to terrible with lines like “Honey got a booty like pow, pow, pow/ Honey got some boobies like wow, oh wow.”

Um…SIR.

“Beez In The Trap” by Nicki Minaj (2012)

Nicki Minaj started the 2010s with a bang thanks to her iconic appearance on Kanye West‘s “Monster” and a debut album (Pink Friday) that was full of bops.

But then “Beez In The Trap” happened.

Not only is the hook annoying, but she also uttered lines like “B*tch, I spit that crack, like I’m in that trap/ So if you need a hit, then I’m with that bat (Bow!).”

We can do so much better Nicki.

“Mooo!” – Doja Cat (2018)

If “Mooo!” is your first exposure to Doja Cat, it might deter you from an otherwise great rapper. However, the Cali spitter definitely got people’s attention with this basic “why did you even make this song?” release. Add in a sexually suggestive music video and you have a bizarre hit that won’t stop playing.

“Wiggle” by Jason Derulo featuring Snoop Dogg

Jason Derulo has a few really cringey songs, but none of them probably tops the basicness of “Wiggle.” Using a whistle as the chorus to a song should be universally understood as a recipe for disaster. It should also be universally understood that if you’re going to do an entire song about a$$ then you definitely need to approach it in a novel way. It’s been done OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Unfortunately, the best Derulo could come up with is “wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.”

(Sigh).

“Shoot” by BlocBoy JB (2017)

This song is great for a dance challenge, but for your everyday listening…no thanks. The hook is just too annoying. I mean, who is really listening to this at the gym or on their commute to work?

If so, power to you.

“Thrift Shop” by Macklemore (2012)

This man literally made a whole song about thrift shopping. Yes, thrifting is awesome every now and then, but a whole song? The beat was also irritating.

I’ll go ahead and bypass this thrift shop.

“Gucci Gang” by Lil Pump (2017)

One song on the list that was inches away from being good. The hook is infectious and the beat definitely hits. But then when you actually pay attention to the lyrics, you’re left with a simple question.

Why?

“My lean cost more than your rent, ooh (It do)/ Your momma still live in a tent, yuh (Brr)/ Still slangin’ dope in the ‘jects, huh? (Yeah)/ Me and my grandma take meds, ooh (Huh?)”

So many questions.

“Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke featuring Pharrell and T.I. (2013)

Fight me. Call the Billboard Hot 100. I don’t care.

This song is the worst. And it’s not simply because of the “date rape” lyrics controversy.

Out of all the smooth R&B songs that Robin Thicke released, it was this basic beat, dry song that got him a hit. The fact that it was even considered similar to Marvin Gaye‘s superior “Got To Give It Up” is baffling.

“Harlem Shake” by Baauer (2012)

This is not the “Harlem Shake”. This will never be the “Harlem Shake”.

“Friday” by Rebecca Black (2011)

Finally, the song of all terrible songs. This song is so terrible, it’s almost good.

The music video, the delivery, THE LYRICS….are pure comedy.

Some of my favorites:

“Fun, fun, think about fun. You know what it is.”

“Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah)/ Partyin’, partyin’ (Yeah)/ Fun, fun, fun, fun/ Lookin’ forward to the weekend.”

Then there’s the iconic:

“Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday/ Today it is Friday, Friday/ We, we, we so excited, we so excited/ We gonna have a ball today/ Tomorrow is Saturday and Sunday comes afterwards/ I don’t want this weekend to end!”

And it won’t end Rebecca. This moment will last forever.
